Cambridge Pedestrian Bridge

Completed in the summer of 2018, the Cambridge Pedestrian Bridge is a step towards an exciting new vision for the city. Designed as a new route for walkers and cyclers along the riverscape, this much-anticipated, 102-metre bridge aims to breathe new life into the surrounding areas, offering improved access, scenic views and vibrant lighting as part of the city’s ‘Back to the River’ initiative.

In collaboration with WSP, Salex worked to create dynamic, colour-changing illumination that would help distinguish this latest local landmark and bring the city’s vision to life.

To achieve this, LED Flex Lights from SGi Lighting were selected for their versatile application and their durable, weatherproof design. Supplemented by SGi’s LED Flex Tracks, these fixtures span the length of the bridge, lighting the path ahead and complementing the exceptional views of the Grand River below. To allow for easily customizable illumination, the bridge was also fitted with DMX Controls that facilitate the lighting of the bridge at night.

Enhanced with this eye-catching illumination, the Cambridge Pedestrian Bridge increases connectivity across the riverscape and introduces an iconic new landmark to the heart of downtown Galt.
